Mission

The goals of the Brain Health and Human Performance (BHHP) program are to (1) promote inter-campus collaborations, (2) enhance existing resources, and (3) increase faculty expertise in targeted research areas. We strive to understand injury response, identify risk factors and optimize recovery of nervous system injury. Our efforts will capitalize on existing strengths of UMCP and UMB including brain trauma, injury mechanisms, neurorestoration, biomechanics, robotics/exoskeletons and orthopaedic restoration, human performance, health promotion and occupational health services.

With a primary research focus on Nervous System Injury and Neuroscience, the BHHP will attract internationally recognized scholars in the areas of brain injury/concussion, cognitive neuropsychology, brain plasticity/rehabilitation, sports medicine, and exercise science/applied physiology.
