Campus Acronyms

Below is a list of common campus acronyms. If you think of something that should be included on this list, just let us know.

ARES: Payroll and personal information.

TLTC: Teaching and Learning Transformation Center.

A campus resource for improving teaching and student learning. TLTC offers both workshops/ seminars as well as one-on-one consultations. The center also publishes a Teaching Resource Guide each year.

ELMS: Content management system for course websites.

ELMS has tools for everything from posting course content on the web to creating podcasts from lectures, as well as various interactive tools that encourage student participation. The Grade Book tool allows students to view their grades, and saves you from emails asking "What's my grade?" The Grade Book also links to UMEG to report grades electronically, which is helpful for larger classes. To request a course space, click on the Faculty tab of the ELMS home page.

UMEG: Electronic Grades and Rosters.

Use UMEG to view and download class rosters, including pictures of your students; to submit grades; and to create a course reflector (useful if you don't use ELMS). You can also use UMEG to view photos of students on the roster, and access a profile of a class with information such as gender breakdown, age range, class standing, and GPA scores.
